Biography
Greg Ervin started his public health career in 1972 after serving two years in the Army Finance Corps. He was first employed by the Ohio Department of Health as a Community Health Services Specialist working with city and county health districts in Southeastern Ohio. He also served as a Southeast District Office Administrator before attending graduate school. After receiving his MPH from the University of Tennessee in 1976, he worked in various administrative positions in the Ohio Department of Health’s central office in Columbus. In 1986 Greg was selected to serve as the Deputy Director of Health for the Akron Health Department and served in that position until 2002 when he was offered the Jackson County Commissioner’s position. Greg grew up in Jackson and this was a great opportunity to return to his home county and apply the public health lessons he had learned at the state and city level in a rural setting. In addition to Greg's involvement with the CEOMPH program, he teaches an introduction to Environmental Health course at Ohio University-Southern in Ironton.
