Biography
Gillian Ice, PhD, MPH is an associate professor in the Department of Social Medicine and serves as the Director of International Programs at the College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition, she is an adjunct professor in the African Studies Department at OU and in the Anthropology Department at Ohio State University. Prior to her position at Ohio University, she was a National Institute on Aging Fellow at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. She has a PhD in Anthropology and an MPH in Epidemiology. Her research explores stress and aging with a focus on long-term care residents and grandparents caring for orphaned children in Kenya. She teaches in a number of areas including research methods and EBM, epidemiology, geriatrics and multicultural medicine. Dr. Ice is past-president of the Association for Anthropology and Gerontology and on the editorial board of the Journal of Cross-Cultural Gerontology. She recently edited (with Gary James), “Measuring Stress in Humans: A Practical Guide for the Field.”
