Biography
Dr. Bette Bonder is Professor, Departments of Health Sciences and Psychology, and Special Assistant to the Dean for the NEOMED-CSU Partnership at Cleveland State University. Dr. Bonder received her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Washington University, and her Ph.D. in counseling from Northwestern University. Dr. Bonder’s research focuses on prevention of occupational dysfunction for older adults, and on cultural competency and reducing health disparities. She has published four books, including Culture in Clinical Care: Strategies for Competence (2nd edition, forthcoming) and Functional Performance in Older Adults (3rd edition). She has authored or co-authored more than 45 papers and chapters and is past editor of the Occupational Therapy Journal of Research. Dr. Bonder has undertaken grant projects for the U.S. Bureau of Health Professions and the National Institutes of Health. She is currently the Project Director for the Education Core of MetroHealth Medical Center’s NIMHD project to reduce health disparities.
