Biography
Dr. Sergeev is the director of the Epidemiology in Public Health; Chronic Disease Epidemiology, Prevention, and Control; and Advanced Epidemiology courses at the CEOMPH Program. He has an extensive professional experience in clinical medicine, health research, and public health. Dr. Sergeev practiced as a cardiologist in a teaching hospital and was a medical school faculty member at Smolensk State Medical Academy (Russia). Dr. Sergeev’s interest in clinical research and evidence-based medicine (EBM) resulted in his PhD in Medical Sciences. Later on, his further interest in epidemiology and biostatistics as the basis of EBM brought Dr. Sergeev to the University at Albany-SUNY (State University of New York), where he earned his MPH with concentration in Epidemiology. He also worked as a research scientist at the New York State Department of Health and the Institute for Health and the Environment at the University at Albany. Dr. Sergeev’s research interests focus on cardiovascular disease epidemiology, health care utilization patterns, and quantitative methods in health research.
