Social Media Toolkits for Public Health

Current project manager: Sandy Vasenda (past project manager Rose Driscoll)

The Office of Public Health Practice advisory committee to the Consortium of Eastern Ohio Master of

Public Health suggested that public health students would be a great help if they could help expand

social media resources to the health departments. We created an executive committee of faculty,

public health practitioners and students, and acquired a grant! You will find social media toolkits

for each each of the year, starting with week 35! You can receive a toolkit in the week prior to the

launch week by downloading from this website or contacting Amy Lee at afl@neomed.edu to be

put on an email list or have access to a Google Drive folder.

WEBINAR

Social Media Strategy and Best Practices, September 9, 2019

Jay H. Dempsey, M.Ed., Social Media Team Lead, Digital Media Branch

Office of the Associate Director for Communication

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Jay Dempsey is the Social Media Team Lead in CDC's Office of the Associate Director for

Communication. He works with a talented group of specialists in implementing innovative ways of leveraging CDC's social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more, to share actionable public health content with a growing digital audience.

How This Process Works

  • Students from public health schools and program sign up to lead the development of one of the toolkits (the sign-up will be sent to your program director at your public health school or program)

  • The lead student on the social media development team will be added to the Google Drive for that toolkit (gmail addresses will be necessary to edit the contents of the folder)

  • Student teams should complete the template by the designated date so that public health advisory team members can review the toolkit)

  • Public health and other advisory team members will approve (required three approvals)

  • Social media toolkit will be posted and emailed 1-2 weeks before the designated launch date!
